You should really take him to a vet for diagnosis and appropriate treatment - some skin problems can be contagious for humans - here are some ... http://www.thepetcenter.com/gen/itch.htm ...

Sounds like the skin of my dog at one point.

Take him to the vet to check it first. If you do not know are the things below.

Okay, stop anything with chemicals in the back of the dog, Febreze, Lysol, perfume, detergents, etc. ... Wash blankets in detergents, without odor. You can try "everything" does not smell and without harsh chemicals. :)

Change your meal. Try a good mix of cheese, cooked rice and minced meat and nothing else. Makes about 1 1 / 2 cup each time he eats. Try this for about 1 week or longer.
He could allergic to food that you eat now.

If this does not work these things a doctor of alternative medicine. www.icak.com You can search in your state. I have a couple of times. He saved the lives of my dogs.

Good luck! :)

It sounds like scabies, and should see the vet anyway. Tell him to schedule a payment, or the vet bill to develop later. Tell him to take the dog to a veterinary emergency TONIGHT. The dog is suffering!
